A health kick that became a recipe he refused to sell short.

Mark spent years cooking professionally before he got serious about his own health — and that meant looking hard at what was actually in the food he was making, starting with the seasoning. Store-bought blends were loaded with MSG, anti-caking fillers, and cheap filler salt, so from 2007 to 2014 he blended his own from scratch: Himalayan pink salt, real herbs, nothing he couldn't explain. By August 2014, it was good enough that his family sat him down and told him it was time to stop keeping it to himself — on one condition: keep the recipe intact. That's where the name comes from. It's his masterpiece.

Mark isn't running the day-to-day anymore — his brother Dan Heath owns Heath's Blends today, and holds the line on the same standard Mark set while chasing his own health: fresh, clean herbs and spices, Pink Himalayan salt for its mineral content, and no shortcuts, so every batch tastes the same as the one before it.
